ABOUT US

Incorporated in 1951, the Loveladies Property Owners Association is open to all Loveladies Property owners who value the quality of life the community provides.

We offer visibility and support with the principal objective of maintaining the high standards of our community. We also provide an active voice for the betterment of government services, as well as a forum for exchanging ideas and information among our membership. As an integral part of Long Beach Township, we participate in and communicate with other Island communities.

General membership meetings are held twice each year, during the summer months. Experts in their fields are invited to discuss subjects of interest to members, followed by a lively Q&A. Over the years these meetings have also become social get-togethers, providing an opportunity to greet old and new members and chat with township officials responsible for local government.

Through the Association you have an opportunity to meet and interact with your neighbors who have similar interests and concerns.

Joining the Association makes you part of a dynamic local organization that provides valuable contacts and connections that can be beneficial to you as a property owner. We invite and encourage all who own property in Loveladies, and who reside there at least part of the year, to join the Association and participate in its activities.

A LITTLE HISTORY…

In 1871 a U.S. life-saving station was established here, and it became necessary to call the area something other than Station Number 114. There was a small, 10-acre island in the bay adjacent to the station which was owned by a Waretown man named Thomas Lovelady, who had set up a shack and shooting blinds there to hunt waterfowl. It was therefore determined that the area would be called Lovelady's -- which eventually evolved to Loveladies.

The community was popular with summer visitors from New York and eventually blossomed into a lovely shore retreat for beach lovers from far and wide. Most of the homes here were destroyed in the catastrophic storm of 1962, and the rebuilding effort produced a vast array of modern homes noted for innovative architecture and design.

president's message

Folks have varying barometers to judge the beginning of the summer season. Personally seeing the smiles adorning faces as they bike, walk, and run along the boulevard is my favorite.

While we enjoy island neighbors, the beach, boating on the bay, mini golf, restaurants, shopping, and the arts please be mindful that we all share the same narrow space. Safety is the overriding factor.

Slow down, both figuratively and while motoring. Keep grills 10 feet from homes and shrubs. Remember local ordinance prohibits wood burning fire pits. While we are fortunate to have great life guards, taking extra care to be aware of our surroundings will benefit us all.

For over 80 years the Loveladies Property Owners Association has been a voice for local quality of life and real estate issues. The meaningful monthly newsletter follows
local issues enabling members to
make informed decisions. Membership information is available on this site.

Welcome to the 2023 summer season.
Smile,
Lewis Nagy, President
